Wildlings
My practice is often inspired by morning walks, during which I gather leaves, observe the shifting light, and pause to watch the sky's reflection across the Bay. I embed leaves into the surface, preserving their delicate veins beneath layers of glaze. I apply translucent washes over a base layer made of recycled packaging and other repurposed materials to create texture. This piece features a yellow ginkgo leaf that glimmers like the sun overhead, juxtaposed with sandpaper, creating a playful exchange of whimsy.
This piece will be shown at the Arc Gallery in San Francisco June 14-July 12.
